Online Slot Advice

The question many slot players ask - especially those trying online slots for the first few times - is, "How do I know the slot machine is not stealing my money?"  This is a justifiable question to ask, and one which needs an answer. Online slots, like the real machines, are governed by random number generators that, in essence, direct when a slot machine will award a winning spin.  Just because a slot did not payout a single penny in one day, does not mean it won't award the entire jackpot the next.  So, to answer the question, it may seem at times that a slot is taking one's money;  However, when all the winnings are tallied up, an online slot actually proves to give some of the best odds in an online casino.

Looking at a slot machine, you will see the payout schedule listing all the possible winning combinations and how much each one pays out exactly.  It is the Random Number Generator's (RNG) job to insure that those winning combinations are produced on a percent basis.  For example, all online casinos must be audited every month to keep their online gaming license and be deemed a fair gaming establishment.  At the end of these audits, the amount of payouts or earnings is correlated against the amount of total bets, producing a percentage figure known as a games payout percentage for that month.  The RNG is programmed to insure an acceptable percentage - 96% and up - is met every month.  Now, the casino software suppliers could reprogram the RNG; However, the audit would still show the monthly payout percentage.  If the slot was programmed to "steal" money, the payout percentage would be telling, and nobody would gamble at the casino anymore.

It is each players responsibility to check the payout percentage for an online casinos slot machines.  It is also the players responsibility to know the payout schedule and rules for the slot machine they are playing.  This entails knowing the exact actions you should take when winning a large jackpot (taking a screen shot, for one) and knowing what to look for in a winning spin combination.  If you see that your spin produced a win, but your bankroll does not reflect the right earnings, take a screen shot and report the situation to the online casino customer support.

One last thing you should know about gambling at online slots:  Take your time.  There is no magic to playing slots, meaning the faster you play, the faster you will win the grand jackpot.  On the contrary, if you are in a rush to spin the reels, the faster you will go broke.  Remember to always pace yourself, keeping track of both your winnings and losses (which a good player interface will do for you anyways).  Know how much you started with, and where your bankroll currently stands.  Whatever you do, do not try to chase any losses.  Instead, play according to your predetermined losing and winning amounts, and take a break when you know it is time to take a break.
